Maui

I have been lucky to visit and photograph many landscapes and places on the island of Maui. The volcano Haleakala is a meaningful place to me as are its slopes, because I have family that grew up near there and as I've aged I've fostered growing connections to the land of Maui and people that live on it.

A view of a peak within Haleakala National Park on Maui, red minerals stain the side of the peak and a Mars like foreground sits below.
Closeup of a Nene, a native goose on Maui, looking at the photographer.
A dark vignette of a well flowing river in the rainforest on Maui.
A palm tree moves in the wind in front of a view of a mountain peak on Maui on a bright mostly sunny day.
Radiant sunlight behind old non-native Eucalyptus trees on Maui.
A moody cloudy view of the Mars-like crater area of Haleakala on Maui. Jagged rocks sit in dark volcanic sand.
A soft golden sunset looking across Maui from east to west, amidst large open ranchlands.
A bank of cloud creeps up a huge peak at the edge of the crater of Haleakala, a 10,000 foot mountain on Maui. The ocean and sky lies beyond.
Deep in mixed rainforest on the island of Maui, the trees and foliage surround the view except for one patch of sky.
A soft sunset plays on the southern Kaupo wide open slopes of Maui.
An ultrawide panoramic view of the dry southern Kaupo side of Maui, showing the slopes of Haleakala all the way down to seaside cliffs.
A view inside the crater area of Haleakala, on the island of Maui. Red cindercones and cliffs beneath a cloudy blue sky.
